Beginning in late 2022, I spearheaded an exhibition featuring the latest collection of San Francisco photographer Nico Van Dongen, titled No Delays. The showcase—a riveting examination of mental health in the Bay Area as seen through the Golden Gate Bridge—was hosted at the San Francisco War Memorial Veterans Building in December 2023 and remains accessible to all at no cost.

Year: 2023-2024

Medium: Photography exhibition.

Conception: In late 2022, photographer Nico Van Dongen enlisted me as the curator for his latest project centered on capturing the Golden Gate Bridge and Bay Bridge. The concept evolved as an exploration of the bridges' grandeur and their deeper, more emotional, cultural associations, and symbology.

Making: Guided by my curation, a dedicated team of assistants, designers, and writers collaboratively navigated the creation of No Delays. Van Dongen's innovative photography was seamlessly woven into a narrative that celebrated the landmarks while delving into their profound cultural and emotional implications. Our strategic partnerships with organizations like the Heart and Armor Foundation played a crucial role in enriching the narrative, enhancing awareness of mental health issues, particularly focusing on the well-being of female military veterans within our communities.

Impact: Premiering at the San Francisco War Memorial Veterans Building on December 8, 2023, the No Delays exhibition received significant acclaim. Due to its positive reception, the show's run was extended until February 23, 2024. Future updates will reveal the continued impact and developments related to this compelling body of work.

Legacy: The No Delays exhibition serves as a bridge connecting diverse perspectives, fostering dialogue, and guiding visitors toward a place of reflection and hope. As curator and designer, my role in overseeing the entire team ensured a seamless integration of artistic vision and mental health awareness. The strategic partnerships forged with organizations like the Heart and Armor Foundation and the choice to host the exhibition at the San Francisco War Memorial reflect a commitment to building a lasting legacy focused on mental health awareness and community building.
