Jack of all trades, Grandmaster of Getting. It. Done.

I am Yolanda Faye. I am a collaboration-focused, design-centered community leader on a long road of education and growth.

a bit about me…

My story starts in 1971 in California as a child navigating life between the foster care system and being in the custody of a neglectful and drug-addicted parent before joining the U.S. Air Force at age 19 and serving on active duty for four years. In the years that followed, I became a philanthropist and humanitarian, got married, became an entrepreneur, had three amazing children, got divorced, and traveled the world as a community leader and mentor with the Air Force (not necessarily in that order). I’ve filled hospitals with murals, raised tens of thousands to build playgrounds, advocated and organized for military sexual assault survivors, built businesses from the ground up, and so much more. I could spend all day telling you what I’ve done, but I’d rather tell you what I know…

You are more than where you came from; You are more than who raised you; And you are more than what’s happened to you. I had hundreds of chances to stay still, give into defeat, lose faith in myself, lose faith in the world, and lose myself to people who don’t deserve me. I’ve had to fight like hell to survive, and grow, and gain independence, but it can be done.

Everything great is collaborative. All of my projects, work, and growth would have been nothing without the people who believed in and supported me. My decades of experience as a relationship-builder have yielded hundreds of joint projects and partnerships and instilled in me the immeasurable value of symbiotic collaboration. It is my mission to keep building meaningful collaborations with and for the kind, intelligent, and creative people who I know are changing the world for the better.

The work never stops (neither does learning). Keep working, stay on your toes, stay passionate, never stop being curious and never stop learning. Life isn’t slowing down so we have to speed up. I keep my mind open and work fast because the more I do, the more I learn. The more I learn, the better I become.

Which led me to where I am now. In 2017, I was awarded a full-ride scholarship to go back to school and formally study Design at the University of San Francisco only to find myself welcomed by a new generation of energized and thoughtful change-makers. I went on to pursue a Masters in Museum Studies toward the end of better empowering, supporting, and mentoring a more diverse creative landscape.

Since graduating in 2023, I have been traveling around the world, searching for my next creative collaboration while working on the relaunch of my jewelry company.

My life and work has been a winding series of joy, loss, trauma, healing, learning, leadership, advocacy, and liberation all tied together by crazy awesome adventures and happy little accidents. And I’m just getting started ;)

In my over thirty years of association with the U.S. Military, both serving on active duty and living as a military spouse, I have experienced and witnessed the overwhelming need for greater support, encouragement, and advocacy amongst those dealing with challenges within military family life. Military veteran students, spouses, and survivors of sexual trauma need to be aware of their rights and resources.

Sometimes, all someone needs is the support of an experienced peer by their side to encourage and help them through their trials. Please don’t hesitate to reach out if you need support. I’m happy to give it.
